Have your kids got the back to school blues? Then why not treat them at the weekend to a family day out Yorkshire with a visit to Lightwater Valley Theme Park? With affordable ticket prices and plenty of attractions to ensure you get your money’s worth, it won’t be too much of a squeeze so close to the summer holidays. Ticket prices are free for under 2s, 5 for heights under 1 meter and 20 for heights of over 1 meter. Senior citizens (over 60s) and student tickets can be purchased at discounted rates of 5 and 18.  To kick start your family day out Yorkshire, booking online is the best option for planning ahead. Booking through the website guarantees entry of 20 per person, which is over 30% of savings compared to the price if you paid on the day. However, if you are booking online, always make sure that you make your payment before midnight the day before your planned trip as they cannot process bookings on the same day of arrival.  The theme park opens at 10am but the free car park is open from 9:40am with designated areas for coach parking and disabled guests just 300 yards from the theme park entrance. Fairground rides operate from 10am and the major rides and attractions are open from 10:30am.  Lightwater Valley’s rides and attractions are split into three categories that are dependent upon the height and suggested age of the guests who are attending. The three categories are: Mini Adventures, Mega Adventures and Ultimate Adventures. In order to make the most of your days out Yorkshire in the Valley, checking which rides and attractions will be suitable for your family is recommended before visiting the park.  To ensure that your family day out Yorkshire runs smoothly, it could also be worth having a look at the number of places to eat at the park. There is plenty to choose from so every member of the family is sure to be satisfied. There are small treats such as candyfloss and doughnuts as well as light bites and more substantial meals. To let your meals settle, there is a more relaxing attraction away from the rides and roller coasters which will no doubt make your days out Yorkshire memorable: The Lightwater Falconry. The Lightwater Falconry houses live birds of prey which feature in shows during the theme park opening times and dates.  The park’s closing time can depend on how busy the park continues to be throughout the day and varies between 4:30pm and 6:00pm. Of course, the British weather will also be dependent on the length of time the park is open for as the team at Lightwater Valley take safety very seriously.  For more exact closing times, it is recommended that you get in touch by email (leisure@lightwatervalley.co.uk) or phone (01765 635321) the day before your visit and a member of their team will be able to give you a more accurate indication of opening times.  If you’d like to try more than one family day out Yorkshire while you’re in the beautiful area, there are many attractions in the surrounding area of Lightwater Valley. For example, The Forbidden Corner and Mother Shipton’s Cave are both approximately 17 miles away from the park and are ideal for adventurers wanting to carry on their exploring on days out Yorkshire.
